Mission, Vision & Guiding Principles
What drives Adventures in Missions — and the biblical principles that shape every decision.

We develop Christ-following leaders to be the change this world needs.
AIM accomplishes this by showing disciples how to walk as Jesus trained His disciples to walk, using His methods.
To restore Jesus's model of discipleship to the modern church.
We awaken the church to radically follow Jesus and advance His Kingdom.
AIM's ministry is built on five core biblical principles:
- 1.
We live a good story, tell a good story.
Acts 26:16AIM believes that each person's life is a story God is writing, and that living and sharing those stories is central to witness and discipleship.
- 2.
We disciple as Jesus did through journey.
1 John 2:61 John 2:6 says that the one who says that he remains in Him should walk just as He walked. AIM patterns its discipleship after Jesus's example: investing deeply over time, in community, on a journey, modeling the message, targeting the poor in spirit, meeting felt needs, telling stories, and sending disciples out in dependence.
- 3.
We train leaders through active learning and relationship.
2 Timothy 2:22 Timothy 2:2 teaches the importance of disciple-making. If Jesus took three years with his own disciples, AIM recognizes the need to invest deeply and not rush the disciple-making process, continuing to pour into disciples until they are reliable and able to pour into others.
- 4.
We seek Jesus' guidance through listening prayer.
Matthew 10Matthew 10 teaches that God desires intimacy and asks us to set aside spiritual crutches in order to learn that He is enough. He does this by sending us and providing for us. AIM emphasizes hearing from God personally and obeying.
- 5.
We are called to the poor in spirit.
Isaiah 58Isaiah 58 teaches that God desires to use His people as His hands and feet to touch those who are hurting. AIM's ministry focus is on the lost sheep that society shuns—in any given city, they go to the darkest and most hopeless place first.
Acts 1:8 teaches Jesus' strategy for advancing the Kingdom, beginning with our own backyard and progressing to the ends of the earth. AIM holds that sustainable faith requires church-planting and missions.
